Introduction

Squeaky wheels on an iRobot Roomba can be an annoying problem. But don't worry, it's a relatively simple fix that you can do yourself! In this post, we'll walk you through the steps to diagnose and fix the squeak in your Roomba's wheels.

There are a few common causes of squeaky wheels, including:

  1. Debris or dirt buildup: If your Roomba's wheels are not cleaned regularly, dirt and debris can accumulate on the wheel axles, causing them to squeak as they turn.
  2. Worn-out wheel bearings: Over time, the wheel bearings in your Roomba can become worn out, causing them to squeak as they turn.
  3. Loose wheel axles: If the wheel axles on your Roomba are loose, they can cause the wheels to wobble and squeak as they turn.

Fix the squeaking

First, take the Roomba off of its base and wipe off any dust that might be lingering around the wheels, we don't want it to get inside the wheel with the dry lube during spraying.

Now, simply hold the Roomba on its side and spray the PTFE lube inside the wheel.

Summary

And that's it! Any squeaks should now be gone from your Roomba.

It is also important to note that if you find that the wheel is not attached to the robot properly, you should follow the instructions in the manual to re-attach the wheel.

Finally, to prevent future squeaks, make sure to regularly clean the wheels and axles of your Roomba, and to check the wheel axles for looseness periodically. By following these steps, you can keep your Roomba running smoothly and quietly.
